Hoosiers have contributed in many ways to Holiday films and TV. The traditional Christmas season begins with the day after Thanksgiving as told in the classic story of "The Miracle on 34th Street". The movie was directed and screenplay by George Seaton from South Bend, IN. The 1947 film was nominated for an Academy award and won an award for Best Screenplay and Director. It has been selected for preservation in the National Film Regestry. Listed in the top ten in American Film Institute movie lists. The story has been remade for film, TV, radio and a musical.
